Re: WIDE or LIMIT? RTS Compensation

the limit is especially usefull on sealed agm type battery's that can be damaged by high voltage . I have my upper limit set .2 volts below the maximum recommend by battery manufacturer . On my older battery's , that were flooded, i set it to wide . Flooded aren't so particular if they get an over v...

Re: Flexmax 80 Chargers front panel info

still a good idea to go through all the settings and get them the same . The EQ setting should not be on unless it has been set to auto EQ , or you have asked it to EQ .
In my opinion best not to have auto eq set .

Re: Fx80 charge setting

absorb time is not an exact science . Idealy absorb should stop once the charging amps at the end of the absorb time has been the same low value for 15 minutes or so .
Or the SG has reached what the battery specs say is 100% charged SG .
So it takes a bit of looking at .

Re: Fx80 charge setting

yep add that 4 amps . Look at the northern Arizona solar forum , some say up to 20% ok .. Of course that is not what manufacture recommends . However if you have an RTS it looks like a little more than 13% may be ok

Re: Fx80 charge setting

also if you think your not getting a full charge , maybe need to extend the absorb time .
Check your settings for absorb voltage and float . What is the SG you get to at end of day? , do you regularly get to floating ?

Re: Fx80 charge setting

yes 13% is the max so theoretically 49 amps , but most systems will have an existing load , This of course will vary...... but you can add this to your 49 amps .

Re: Fx80 charge setting

the limit is the amps out to batterys .
I think you can increase the amps a little

Re: I can not wake my fm60

AC in on the inverter charger is for just that , so as long as you have a generator of reasonable quality ( idealy an inverter one ) , then it will charge batterys , You will most likely need a Mate To set ac in limits . i dont know what the defaults are . Also the absorb and float voltages may well...

Re: HELP PLEASE!!!

Hi . In what way do you think your system is not performing ?
Voltages for batterys , your battery manufacturer should have the recommended settings .
One thing though ,,,,,, with that many parallel strings it is often difficult to keep them evenly charged

Re: New Outback power system - clicking noise in morning/sle

Yes the manuals can be a bit strange to start with .. Read compleatly 3 times , is a good start . If you have specific question ask , Has my idea or suggestion for reducing clicking worked ? Sounds like watts is as to be expected ..... the way it works basically 3 stages .. Bulk , this happens first...

Re: New Outback power system - clicking noise in morning/sle

How bad is this clicking in the morning ? Page 45 of the fm80 manual describes the advanced menu . Snooze amps can be adjusted the default is .6 Maybe drop that . also there is a wake up mode descried on page 46 , try increasing that voltage , also you can increase that time out to a maximum of 15 m...

change of batterys time is also a good time to look at inverter voltage . Inverter may also be getting old , time to go up to 48 Volts ?

Re: New owner in Canada needs help!

cant help much from NZ ..... but you may want to add a bit more detail . what model outback inverter ? AH of batterys . Where in Canada are you .
Maybe find out who installed the system and commissioned it .
If that is the original batterys , they may be nearing end of life ?

Re: New Outback power system - clicking noise in morning/sle

you can also adjust the wake up time so it takes longer before it trys again to wake up . this will reduce the clicking first thing . Or you could get up and get on with the day !!!!

Re: What is the maximum capacity of Flexmax?

and looking at that chart ....... pretty sure the fm80 was rated at 1250 watts at 12 volts when i bought mine . Or am i imagining that .
My system is 2.2kw 24 volts . very rarly will it go to 80 amps .. mostly maxing out at around 60 amps . Has been working fine like this for years .

Re: FLEXMax60 Charge Controller makes click noise when wakin

page 47 i think of the manual . You can set to a longer time between wake up testing its self ... i think out to 15 minuets .
You will then only have the click every 15 minuets until it compleatly wakes up .

Re: Trying to help a mate

yep i would suspect batterys. I note that you have 9 panels in series parallel . that i think is asking for trouble , one string will be a significant voltage difference to the other . 4 kw for the day indeed seems light .. to test what it can output at max ... switch on a heat gun or electric heate...

If you are considering grid .... then i would go grid straight away . Take grid to barn . Make that your main power position , then if you go grid tied all equipment will be set up in a one hit coherent way ,
