Re: PV to 120VAC non grid-tie inverter

Hi Ray - I haven't seen any DC aeration pumps, most if not all are 120 or 240VAC, at least in the size I might need. I'll look...

PV to 120VAC non grid-tie inverter

Hello all - This isn't an Outback-related question so excuse my posting it here, but... I am looking to connect 2 spare PV modules directly to a non-grid-tie (approx 500W) inverter to power a remote pond aeration pump, without any battery requirement. I know, this means the pump won't run at night o...

Re: Any good sources for setting up a off grid system that runs with the meter?

I just read on the website of my utility that they now want every piece of equipment in my system to be warrantied for at least 10 years.
Yet another way to discourage solar adoption. Sheesh!

Re: Mate3s does not display graphics

Have you tried unplugging your Mate3s ethernet cable from the Hub, then replugging it back in? This reboots the Mate and may be all you need to do... Let the forum know how it goes.

Re: Any good sources for setting up a off grid system that runs with the meter?

Welcome George - You've come to the right place. At the risk of sounding like a paid promoter, Outback Power specializes in solar equipment for off-grid and grid-tied applications. They also provide free software for monitoring and adjusting their system components called OpticsRE. As an example of ...

Re: National Solar Tour

I heard from ASES regarding participation from international "solarists" (anybody have a better term for us?), specifically with regard to my comment to EA6LE-ONE:

"So you gave him the right advice. If he is interested, we would love to have a video (& photos, etc.) from him."

Re: National Solar Tour

EA6LE - If you're interested then I wouldn't let that stop you from participating. You've got a pretty impressive system that I'm sure many would enjoy seeing, regardless of your location. - Mike

Edit: I just inquired the tour organizers about this. Stay tuned!

National Solar Tour

Fellow Outbackers! Because of the pandemic, the American Solar Energy Society's annual solar tour will be conducted "virtually" this year. You can host your system's virtual tour site by uploading photos, videos or whatever. And the good news is you don't have to be an ASES member to participate! I ...

Re: Stacking questions

It appears that in switching stacking roles, both Radians are charging.....and in the previous stacking config, only 1 Radian was charging. Any ideas? I found this in the manual: Screenshot_20200706-125813_Adobe Acrobat.jpg Apparently your new master had a much higher AC current charging limit when...

Re: Stacking questions

My assumption, which you can confirm, is that the Radian plugged into Port 2 is shown as a slave without any option to change fcwlp - Please address the bottom paragraph in this 8048 installation manual excerpt: Screenshot_20200705-230212.jpg It sounds to me like simply swapping the ethernet cables...

Re: Stacking questions

It doesn't sound like the system is Classic stacked, as the 2nd inverter is not active all the time. Is my understanding correct? My system is classic stacked and that's the way it behaves - master does most of the selling until it's near max, then the slave starts to sell. But 120V loads are conne...

Re: Stacking questions

if I swap the ethernet cables between HUB Port 1 (Master) and Port 2 (Slave), then the old "Slave" becomes the new "Master" by default...... just by plugging it into Port 1, and visa versa for the new Slave in port 2 and nothing else should need to be done. You must change the stack mode in the Mat...

Re: Low Battery Cut-Out Delay Setting Keeps Reseting to 0.1 Seconds

I just know that for my Skybox there is a setting for battery type, one of whose options is Simpliphi. Since your 8048's are compatible with "advanced batteries" such as lithium I thought that maybe there would be an option for setting that either on the Mate3 or in Optics, much as your 8048 has a s...

Re: Stacking questions

First, the new master must be plugged into port 1 of your hub. Before doing this, shut off the AC outputs from both your inverters, and enter the stacking menu and press the change soft key. This will disable the output of the particular inverter whose stack mode you're about to change. Now much dep...

Re: Low Battery Cut-Out Delay Setting Keeps Reseting to 0.1 Seconds

Oops - my bad. I looked at my 2 systems and my older GVFX's don't have an LBCO delay setting in Optics, whereas my Skybox with Simpliphi batteries does. I see you're using SimpliPhi batteries - is there a custom setting for them in your GS8048 program? If so maybe you need to have it set for Simplip...

According to the GS8048 manual, the LBCO delay is fixed at 5 minutes.

Re: GS 4048A

Kinda hard to diagnose from the forum and it sounds like you've tried everything you can. Turning off the breakers from the inverter to your critical loads and still getting a fault definitely points to a problem inside the inverter. If it had been working fine and then suddenly faulted, maybe it's ...

Why is the coefficient for short circuit current a positive number? Re: Mate 3s not saving configuration.

Sorry, thought you had a Radian, but in any case offset is not programmable for a VFXR either. Screenshot_20200625-070502_Adobe Acrobat.jpg I am not an expert on offset but just from reading the manual, the important thing to note is that your inverter will go into and leave "offset" operation depen...

Re: Mate 3s not saving configuration.

Do you have your charge controller set to enable grid-tie mode? This can be done thru the Mate3:
Screenshot_20200624-185654_Adobe Acrobat.jpg
Also note, offset is not a programmable function per the 8048 manual:
