Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

OK... done. I see the MATE3s Programming Guide states that an FNDC is required (only). We will see. Wondering then, as Global Charger Control is set to the default "Disabled". Should this be enabled? Based on the manual, sounds like global charge control is just to limit total battery charging amps...

Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

Based on the Mate3s manual, I think the global charge menu applies whether you have an fm80 or not:

I would still try disabling auto charge termination, just to see if it makes a difference.

Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

I would try disabling auto charge termination control. That's how my system is set up and it works properly.

Re: Skybox SOC reset with Simpliphi batteries

The 56v absorb for 10 min also happens to be only 4 min longer than the .1hour (6min) that is recommended on the Simpliphi 3.5 outback integration guide. Photon - Your settings are probably okay (whatever works! \:D/ ) since they're for the 3.5 model battery, sorry I posted the 3.8 specs which obvi...

Re: Skybox SOC reset with Simpliphi batteries

Interesting that the respective Absorb voltages of 54.4 and 56 are so far apart. The app note for Simpliphi 3.8s simpliphi_app_note.pdf specs 54.4volts for one hour. Screenshot_20200116-072946_Adobe Acrobat.jpg . I was using 5 minutes but looks like that's wrong. 56 volts would be for max DOD and m...

Device Registration: New battery options have been added for 24v Simliphi Batteries and 48v Blueion lithium batteries.
Thanks Bryce.

Question: Will the same fix come in a future update for Simpliphi 48 volt batteries?

Re: Skybox SOC reset with Simpliphi batteries

I'm using 56v for 10 min absorb. I am using the 3.5 version Simpliphi  Wow! Does that 10 minute absorb bring you back to 100% SOC? My experience was that after dropping to 44% SOC, it took 2 hours of absorb at 54.4 volts (Simpliphi 3.8s × 3) to get to 100%. Prior to this, I had it set for 5 minutes...

Re: Enphase Envoy microinverter detection thru Skybox

Since your post we have tested the Envoy and we got it to work on the output side. Is it possible when you had installed it on the output side that the AC Input relay would have been open? What was the configuration when you had issues with it on the output side? I think I've figured out what chang...

Shot in the dark, but do you have your FM80's float, absorb and equalize settings set 0.4 volts higher than your GS8048's?

Re: Skybox SOC reset with Simpliphi batteries

Hi Photon - I'm curious. 1. Are you grid-tied? 2. Assuming you're using a timed absorb charge, what's your max absorb time setting? What really caused confusion for me in my o.p. is that the Simpliphi voltage range for 100% SOC doesn't seem to match the Skybox's SOC indication. In other words, when ...

Re: How to combine off-grid inverter with power grid?

According to the manual (page 3, link attached above):
The AC-IN connection on each E model inverter/charger is only approved for connection to an AC generator.
I overlooked this in my earlier post. Doesn't sound like you can connect to grid, your inverter is for off-grid only.

I may be overstating the obvious, but make sure to set the Skybox Generator Max Input Current Limit according to your source's capability.

Thanks, Ray. I appreciate your input. I'm about at the same knowledge level as you on these, despite having them in service here. Skybox SOC reset with Simpliphi batteries

I recently ran my Simpliphi bank down to 44% SOC, and found that the recommended absorb time and voltage settings of 1 hour and 54.4 volts respectively, would only bring my battery back up to about 80% SOC. I found I had to set the Skybox to run 2 absorb cycles in order to get to 100% SOC. And I was...

Re: Unusual low battery levels after minimal load

I had a Mate once, if memory serves, the LAN cable would allow you to mount your Mate remotely (connects between the Hub and the Mate). I didn't think it could connect to a PC, but I could be wrong about that... :-k

Re: Unusual low battery levels after minimal load

What would be useful is to be able to run a cable to a laptop and access the system from upstairs The Mate has a DB9 serial communication port, which is now considered "legacy" equipment but I'm sure it could still be used to connect to your PC. Not sure how much system adjustment it would permit, ...

Re: Need help choosing the right cable and breaker btwn Batts and Inverter

Anyway, my partner is looking at it wondering how it would best be mounted. It has two screws, one below and one above the switch but it seems more support would be a good idea. Would you or anyone have a suggestion on this? For the Outback breaker, all I did was cut a rectangular hole for the swit...

Does it matter where I pull off my positive lead that will feed breakers to inverter and controller?  No. Here's where I'd connect: Screenshot_20200110-185959_Samsung Internet.jpg Or if it's more convenient, connect at the other side from where my sketch shows connections. I've thought of that before. $350+.... Would prefer not to go there if possible Provo's suggestion of a Trimetric would be cheaper by 40% or more, including a shunt. N. Re: Unusual low battery levels after minimal load

Assuming your L16's have a C20 of 435Ah (https://www.trojanbattery.com/product/l16h-ac/), a 500 watt load will take your battery down to 50% SOC in about 11 hours. Your description of what's happening has a lot of variables but it seems like your battery is behaving as you would expect it to. What a...

Just my opinion, and maybe others will chime in, but SOC by voltage is far less accurate than SOC by net current flow.

Is it possible when you had installed it on the output side that the AC Input relay would have been open? What was the configuration when you had issues with it on the output side?
I don't remember but it's not likely, I'm grid-tied and am usually connected.
