Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

Sorry to to push this one too far, I think I learn some more from this thread, also I will like to know if any other experienced "solarists" have a better advice and more insight about the mysteries of FNDC.

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

That you have values of going to battery higher than incoming from solar.

Re: Forum Requires Client Certificate?

75k is small for a picture this days. have the original limits you had before. when I uploaded the pictures of my system I had to reduce them down, the limit was 2m. but at 75k you can't have a good size picture look well. This is the best I could do for 75K Guest House2.jpg this is the original tha...

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

just for curiosity: will you try to change your setup to one shunt and see what numbers you will get to the charge factor for few days? also to see if the representation on optics will correct if you swap shunts, this might help to be sure that both shunts are equally calibrated.

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

Screenshot_20200711-103045_Chrome.jpg 20200711_103122.jpg My preference is the upper representation, it shows a more nuanced picture of the charge flow. I guess when you have 2 shunts or 3 the summary page will not make a correct representation of how much go to battery and how much is coming out. ...

I think the summary page in optics is codded wrong, suppose to look like that for battery usage:

As you might expect, it shows the charge flow across the battery bus in more detail when the shunts are selected.

Screenshot_20200711-101717_Chrome.jpg
It shows net charge flow when the shunts are deslected.
post screenshots from yesterday, a full day.

and error with fictitious load:

not reflected on battery screen as well.

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

I checked the manual again, and is confusing. now i understand why many complain that the return amps is not accurate on some systems. If you use return amps as battery charge parameter, then you should have one shunt only. On your Mate directly you have the net value and that suppose to be the valu...

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

I have only one. I need only to see what is going to battery and what is coming out. I can say that they are working ok and they are very accurate what is going in and what is going out. on the secondary system I have an outback 500A and on the main system I had to order a special one for 1000A. Try...

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

But on your graphs you have battery usage during solar generation which in fact is only solar energy and not taken out from battery. you don't have a clear view how the battery is used. The OpticsRE cannot interpret the data from FNDC to give the real data about the usage of the battery? I thought t...

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

how long you get from a set of agm batteries? you have 6kW PV, should be enough to feed inverter without the battery being used. I don't understand why you have on the graphs then battery usage during the day. I don't know how long I get from a set of AGM batteries. I'm in year 5 on my 1st set. The...

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

then use only one shunt and you will have the real picture how the battery is used. have the PV negative, CC negative and inverters negative on the same bus bar, and a shunt from bus bar to the battery. Works perfectly for me.
that might explain also why you have those charge factor numbers.

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

Maybe reduce the charger limit to have the absorb hitting a bit later (should help with battery life). it looks like the loads during the day is high and is hitting the battery more than C20 at moments . will not be better to increase the PV a bit? to cover for the power usage from battery during th...

Re: Cycle Charge Factor and other mysteries

might be something wrong with your FNDC to get charge factor to 0. i have 2, one is about 6 years old and one just got it couple months back and both report similar numbers on the 2 systems. I'm suspecting the differences are driven more by usage patterns, and we're seeing errors in both at differe...

Aww JR! We've been getting instances of damage to our dry forest trees and bushes by Mouflon she...

what I said is pure science with application for solar energy. nothing political :), but I guess this days everything can be interpreted as political.
