Re: 8048/Mate3 parameters for Lithium-Ion battery bank

Just to make sure ... are the shunts properly activated? I am saying this because our installer hadn't done this - and my experiences were similar to yours: red light on FN-DC and Mate3s, warnings of low charge (since the shunt never registered the added charges from the CCs). Maybe worthwhile check...

Re: Why is my generator not charging?

Again, thank you. I had sourced my batteries at Techdirectclub - they were advertised as BYD LFPs and came with a terse sheet just giving min. and max. voltages, AH and max amps. I've got 4 of them, 2 banks with 2 in series each (I am aware that using LFPs in series is suboptimal - but this was spec...

Re: Why is my generator not charging?

Thank you, that worked! BTW: I had tried to respond immediately yesterday, but the forum app wasn't very accommodating to me and acted erratically. Even now it throws an HTTP error (probably related to an image I had attached). I had started the generator yesterday to up the battery charge - and tha...

Why is my generator not charging?

The generator was charging earlier today, when the battery was roughly at 70%. Why is it the GS8048A now in 'passthrough' - can I force it to also charge (to get at SOC=100% before nightfall). Generator 1.png the CCs are currently on 'Bulk' Bulk.png Also, as a minor glitch, the dashboard is claiming...

Re: Electric resistance water heater - how to?

Thank you all for your suggestions - yes, it looks like the system would have access to serviceable mechanisms, like PV array voltage and net charge (FN-DC). But none of them is reflected in any of the available modes for AUX relay control. Most deal with battery voltage, which, in case of Lii, is a...

Re: Electric resistance water heater - how to?

Yes, solar-thermal direct heat ... if t were so simple: First, the domestic expectation is for hot water to flow on-demand out of faucets and showers - and that the water be of the same (hygienic) quality as the cold water. That rules out pressure-less systems with big volumes and stagnant water. Sec...

Re: Electric resistance water heater - how to?

I would hope that the Mate3(s) has all the computational functions needed - this should be just another mode for AUX control. I wouldn't want to install and maintain another (foreign) piece of hard/software that no-one else understands.

Electric resistance water heater - how to?

For the time being, I manually turn on the 4.5kW water heater once I see that battery charging is complete - around 11am, when max. collector harvest is still an hour away. And I watch the power balance on Optics-Re to see if there is significant battery drain (if the day turns cloudy), n which case...

Re: Parameter Inverter > High Battery

Thank you all for your comments and valuable insights! I am getting more familiar with the system by the day, and ii continues to exceed our expectations! The 'real' test will be running a split AC unit once the heat arrives here on the islands: I may need to add more battery capacity: the panels ar...

Re: Parameter Inverter > High Battery

Thanks again - I have used these settings, using the Optics-Re interface. By doing so I noticed that both CCs had deviating settings - I went into each separately and straightened them out. Initially, all programming was done by the installer through the Mate3s: I have looked at the menu, it wasn't ...

Re: Parameter Inverter > High Battery

Thanks Mike, I guess this thread is wearing itself out a bid - but clearly, this parameter is settable: Untitled.png and it seems redundant in meaning to the charge limits that are set in the battery section. Could'nt find it addressed in the manual. Thanks for the battery reference! Cheers, Hans

Thanks again for your response, but:

these are regular, settable parameters. So what should I set them to?

Re: Parameter Inverter > High Battery

Thanks for the reply, but I was looking for an explanation for the following detail parameters under 'Inverter > High Battery': - Cut-Out Voltage (currently set to 58V) - Cut-In Voltage (currently set to 58V) - Cut-Out Delay (currently set to 10s) The high- and low voltage / charge parameters are al...

Parameter Inverter > High Battery

Just had our system installed - on one of the tiny Bahamas islands that had been destroyed by hurricane Dorian. 7 months now, and still the grid isn't up yet - with more delays now thanks to corona. Before, we had to run our generator at about $25 worth of diesel every day: what a relief that the ne...
