Re: Adding second inverter to Radian 4048a

As long as you keep the phases correct the system can easily combine both grid and inverter output.. This is how it runs here as a supportive backup and the onboard bypass and combiner AC breakers seem well thought out.. The hardware sips before it gulps and syncs the inverter before allowing it to ...

Re: GS8048 replacement with GS8048A-01

From what I have read the big difference between the 48 and 48A are the better board components.. The 48A and the 48a1 is more of a software and self stress monitoring that prevents working to self destruction..

Re: sulfation?

That's the thing isn't it, the difference between running absorb at 58.8v for extra hours as opposed to running 64v for 12 minutes as opposed to trickling at 54v which would not prevent crystal growth or stratification.. No matter what the lead plates will wear or decay loosing around 10% capacity e...

Re: Moving Mate3 away from Flexpower unit

I would worry that an aerial network wire stretching any length would be a quick death to anything connected to each end during the next lightning storm.. I wonder how far between the system and the house it is?? 1,000 feet is pretty far for cat. 5 and standard network 10/100 signaling although it m...

Re: Wiring for AC input

The GS load center I have GS175PV had terminal blocks for connecting the output of the generator.. They run back thru a breaker then up to the control board of the Radian which does all the combining and switching to put the AC power into the mix.. Specs. for generators vary and you never want to ex...

Re: sulfation?

I would suggest running equalization for short periods several times weekly or bi-weekly depending on their use for 12+ minutes instead of waiting the month to 6 weeks then beating on the plates for several hours.. This weekly electrolyte stir and plate cleaning would simulate a stress use on batter...

Re: Better way to bypass 8048? (secondary direct to main)

Having AC line interconnects using just breakers without some kind of transfer safety mechanism will be dangerous and violate code.. You could buy a second transfer switch or use industrial switches / relays to do individual alternate bypassing for a breaker.. I thought of using a 2x 3 pole switch t...

Re: Adding second inverter to Radian 4048a

So after doing some research and a little self admission that I should have gone with the GS8048A to begin with I have come up with this conclusion.. A spare right side module is $1650 or so plus shipping.. An entire GS8048A box is $3,800 plus shipping and an entire GS4048A is just shy of $2k.. Gett...

AC charging scheme

During the winter when sun availability is low to nill I use my Radian system as backup and charge the batteries with the inverter/charger.. The Trojan batteries call for 54v float, 58.8v absorb and 64.8 equalization and I would like to seek maximum lifespan for them.. What I am doing is programming...

Adding second inverter to Radian 4048a

Hello I have a Radian 4048a and want to add the second inverter module to turn it into an 8048a.. Can this be done?? It seems the main board has the connections on it for the ribbon cable and AC terminals.. I had sent an Email to support and got back a non answer about how to source the parts.. I re...
