Re: Hybrid inverter and backup generator condition

One very annoying thing is the voltage setting for the Mate 3s AGS start up/shut down is that the incremental changes are in 0.4 volts. Already brought this to the Outback tech supports attention. An option to consider for starting the generator based on a minimum voltage would be to use the relay ...

From page 57 of the version of the manual currently on outback’s website.
Thanks for the heads up. I was still using the 2014 Operator's manual. Outback moved most of the "Power Save" section from the 2014 Operator's manual to the 2017 Installation manual.

Re: How many Radians needed

- 32kW battery (can be split up) - not connected to anything yet. Do not split your battery bank up! OutBack systems with more than one inverter are designed to run off of one battery bank. For your present system, do the panels have micro-inverters or are they feeding into a typical grid-tie inver...

Re: Slave Radian Power Consumption

Dave, with two Radians and a big battery bank are really concerned about 30W. Just kidding. Starting on p.38 of the current GS8048a Operator Manual there is a good discussion of the Power Save function. It does state the following: "Each inverter consumes approximately 30 watts of idle power ...

Re: One mate3 two masters?

At the time my generator was tied directly to the panel as we were swapping out the inverters. This is analogous to having the grid tied to the output of the inverter. Not a good idea. I have seen a Schneider Conext and an OB GFVX (both installed by someone else) blow up when the grid was connected...

Re: Low amps mid day, help!

The system has been operating for 6 years, and I’ve had to change one inverter (the workout one) out under warranty. The issue with the low output is a recent development, within the last few months. Only one inverter (the one in port 2) is regularly working during peak sun. Check that both inverte...

Re: Low amps mid day, help!

Charge controllers should have 6 parallel strings of 2 panels in series. Use a combiner box like midnight mnpv-6 With 280W panels, his Voc will be too low with only 2 panels in series. Should be 3 in series with 4 parallel strings. You need two parallel strings of 8 batteries each, He has a total o...

• End Amps = 0 • Re-Bulk Voltage is set as appropriate for the system. This value is tricky, as it does more that what appears in its name. Re-Bulk is, of course, the battery voltage that triggers another Bulk charge cycle. If the battery is not drawn down to the Re-Bulk voltage, the FM80 may wake ...

However, from an outback webinar at 6:45 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyQWLNNLHuY, it was stated that maximum input Voltage from the array is 250 V as the max voltage includes the battery voltage of 48 V for a total COMBINED voltage of 298 V. Re: Mini-Grid not connecting to grid

The timer should start as soon as it drops below said voltage and kick on after 60 minutes. I have not tracked the timer logic used for this timer. There is a possibility that this timer may reset to zero if the voltage goes back above the set point. Note what the manual says below for this timer. ...

Re: What happens if I run 70 Volts into an VFX 3648?

The inverter will shutdown at 68.1V as the max HBCO (High Battery Cut Out) is 68.0V. With appropriate wire sizes and/or buss bars the higher amperage is not going to be an issue.

Also with the Schneider gear, it is an at my will grid-tie/off grid setup.
Now I understand the "will." I can flip the switch also to go off grid and also have a transfer switch to supply 175A from grid to the "critical" load sub-panel if I want.

Re: FXR3048A stopped selling or offsetting

What are your voltage set points: - On the CC for absorb and float? - On the inverter for absorb, float and sell? For a 48V system you want the CC's voltage set points 0.4V higher than the inverter's voltage set points for the absorb and float. Program the sell voltage 1.0 to 1.5V below float. In Op...

Re: Solar Panel Advice

Generally speaking, in order for the charge controller to have any overhead to apply the firmware algorithm and increase charging efficiency, the input voltage needs to be about 18-24 volts above the voltage for a 48 volt battery bank. So if the bank is 48 volts, you would like the PV voltage comin...

Great! Thanks for this. I didn't think I could connect both the Skybox grid input and load output to the grid at the same time. Something told me this would lead to bad things. It looks like I can connect the grid input to the Skybox and excess power will be exported to the grid. As long as I keep ...

Re: Solar PV to loads only - how does this work?

If I don't connect the grid input to the Skybox, I assume the solar PV power will flow to the batteries and then to any loads I have connected. Almost correct. The PV will charge the batteries and the batteries then supply the power to the inverter. I assume the Skybox will regulate output to avoid...

Have you considered the Mate3x AGS "Load Start" option. You can program the start kW, start delay, stop kW and stop delay.

For the generator go either with @raysun's favorite Honda EU7000is or a Kohler 14RES versus the 50kW generator.
