Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

Thanks. I will look into those settings. Switch back to AC has been seamless and through a number if outages, have not seen the low-voltage error again.

When switch to backup occurrs, it seems quick but does cause several devices to restart.

Re: Installer/Service Tech

I could also use a referral, in the same vicinity (east s.f. bay area), as my installer is unresponsive except for warranty issues. Difficult to find anyone interested in any work other than new installs. Not sure what I would do if I had an actual equipment failure.

Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

We experienced 6 outages in 30 days, including another brown-out. During the brown-out, backup did not switch on. Opening the main panel AC-grid breaker caused backup to immediately switch on (again). Backup performed perfectly during all other outages (non-brown-out). Any comments appreciated... is...

Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

Group; Another outage a few days ago and system switched flawlessly and performed as expected. Then... another outage this morning. Grid back up now. However, we experienced the same total failure to switch to backup, although no error this time. The last time this occurred, we received an event not...

Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

I did check, and the multiple 8's are a start-up test display. However, it appears there was enough power to produce that, runs some household device LED's but power no components... the brown-out must have been the culprit. I will run a test... but also gotta attend to my non-solar life sometimes, ...

Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

I received a response from a support ticket and a productive call from Lones Tuss. Support ticket email: "You may want to refer to the Troubleshooting and Errors, Warnings and Notifications definitions in the back of the manual for future reference. Either your battery was too high or too low and sh...

Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

I didn't record the time of the outage, but the Gateway device went offline at 18:21, which is just about the time of the outage. I doubt there was any load surge during the outage. Until back-up engaged, about 35 mins. later, nothing was powered, except that a few led lights on various devices and ...

Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

UPDATE: Backup kicked in about 35 minutes after the outage occurred. I received an event notice "Inverter on port 1 has detected a Battery Voltage Sensor Failure", followed immediately by "Inverter on port 1, Battery Voltage Sensor error has cleared." Backup did not kick in for about another 15 mins...

Backup failed to switch during outage

So... after much forum discussion about settings changes, I was confident all was well. Batteries are at 98%/51.2v. Grid power out. No backup power. Mate3s indicater lights indicate source as Inventer. Can find no popped breakers. My PC is working from a separate, PC backup battery. Any assistance a...

Re: Generator backup

Bonding connection issue: Well... I did not install the FNDC, it was installed by my original installer. He finally responded to my query with "This is a non issue and has been inspected and finaled.", meaning the County building inspector approved it. I am not confident the inspector was even aware...

clarkf; In response to your previous post: There is an EQ cycle: EQ VOltage = 58.4, EQ TIme = 1 hours (both are default) clarkf: "I would think that an AC charge rate of 100% of your SolarEdge max AAC output would be appropriate." Is this the Radian "Charger AC Limit" setting? Default limit cited is...

Re: Generator backup

I have attached images of my GSLC and the Generator Relay with the labels added, hopefully you can see them. I added these labels. Yes, it looks like the relay is for generator protection for automated starting. My generator is a manual connect/start connection, and I have always done the manual GTO...

Re: Generator backup

Take me awhile to absorb all this.

I understood the ROCB was removed with the firmware update.

I have no idea what the "generator interlock" is or what it does, so can't tell you when/if it ever changes. I also don't know what the setting dials are for, or even where to find out.

Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

Well... confusing when I experienced this fault issue in the past, all Outback/tech support/forum contacts, my installer and SolarEdge concluded it was not a SolarEdge issue and settings were correct. SolarEdge Tech Support updated the firmware at that time (couple moths ago) as well. Is this settin...

Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

Radian: 1.6.70
MATE3s: 1.4.2

These seem to be the latest firmware updates. I do not recall seeing a menu labelled "P(f)". Can you be specific about location and via OpticsRE or only MATE3 panel?

Thx!

I reiterate... I am no electrician. I speak only layperson, but will do my best to answer your questions: Remote breaker: sounds like you may be referring to the ROBC relay, which was removed wit the the upgrade to MATE3s and firmware, adapted to handle AC Coupling. Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

OK.. as I was concerned... I lowered the High Cut-out to 58 and the Cut-in to 56, which immediately stopped the "Buying" mode. Please recommend permanent settings. Just noticed... Absorb charging, which had not occurred for weeks, has reappeared, so I assume related to these settings as well. Oops.....

Re: Generator backup

Difference from solar settings? I assume you mean my GTO inverter? If you can be specific, I can try to get those figures from the digital panel on the inverter. Not available via my monitoring software and generally, SolarEdge only wants to work with installers. One of my challenges is that Optics...

Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

Actually, I thought that seemed high, so I lowered it to 57.6 and then thought better of it since the default setting is 64. What setting do you recommend? I notice the High Battery Cut-In default is 60v, and the Cut-out default is 64. Can you recommend settings for both? ASAP? In the AC Coupling me...

I will check that, but wanted to relay a new issue that just came up before I do so... OpticsRE is reporting that I am Buying, although my batteries are at 100%/59.4V! What the heck is that? I've never seen this before?
