Re: Is it wise to buy spare Outback 'parts' - just in case?

In your shoes, I would not try to guess which parts might fail and I would just save my money. The most often mentioned parts bring replaced seems to be boards. It may not be statistically accurate to say that those are the parts which fail most often but I do read it often. And theyÔÇÖre expensive....

Re: High Specific Gravity, and what to do about it

Thanks All for the feedback. Going to try lowering the AbsV a touch for a couple weeks, and without adjusting AbsT, to see if SGs come down.
Agreed, I rather be dealing with overcharge than undercharge.
Hydrovolt is in fact the type I ordered, looking forward to making the comparison.

High Specific Gravity, and what to do about it

Hi All - I have been observing consistently high SG readings in our battery recently: 1.290-1.295, after temperature corrections. I have ordered a second hydrometer so I can verify the readings of the first one, but under the assumption (in the meantime) that the readings are correct, I am looking f...

I don't have my Mate in front of me, so can't try navigating, but try this (from page 107 of the manual):

Re: Mate Control

Hm...the link I sent was for the 132-page Mate Installation and User Manual. You should find instruction to do with the AGS function on page 74.
If the doc is not linking properly just Google:
outback mate manual technical documentation
It'll be a top hit.

Mike - Not Gremlins per se, but: Judging strictly by the number of bizarre phenomena lately - weird event logs and shunt readings, unexplained charge mode switches, PV harvesting at midnight, undetermined OpticsRE setpoint changes - it's possible that we're on the verge of a 'SkyNet'-type Artificial...

Re: FM60 CHARGED on status screen no PV output

I can't comment on this exact case but have had 'similar' questions about the charging modes in my FM80s recently. (Thread: FM80 going from ABSORB Mode back to BULK Mode) Ultimately I ending up powering down and factory resetting the system, re-entering the same parameters/setpoints, and repolling t...

Re: System needs to be shot down every 24 hours

A thought about the compressor issue: Have you tested the AC voltage at your outlets? That is, using an electrical meter and verifying that your inverter is outputting the required 120VAC? I would also check the AC output setting in the inverter. Not sure what kind of inverter you have but from the ...

Re: FM80 going from ABSORB Mode back to BULK Mode

I just wanted to close this off regarding the issue at question, in case any user with a similar issue searches and finds this thread: Sunday was the third consecutive day of 'proper' charge cycles; that is, going from Bulk to Absorb to Float, and not re-entering Bulk without reason (at all, actuall...

I believe so (that End Amps can over-ride): CC manual page 20, Absorbing: ÔÇ£The charger will exit this stage and enter the Float stage if the ChgT timer reaches the time limit, or if the Absorb End Amps setting is reached.ÔÇØ http://www.outbackpower.com/downloads/documents/charge_controllers/flexma...

Re: FM80 Absorb cycle charging - 3 day trial

Raysun - Interesting trial, and I presume satisfying, in the sense that it seems all worked ÔÇÿas it shouldÔÇÖ? (Particularly interesting for me, considering my experience with the switch from Absorb mode back to Bulk mode then back to Absorb again. IÔÇÖll be watching this phenomena closely.) I am c...

Re: FM80 going from ABSORB Mode back to BULK Mode

Raysun - There are a few unknowns here for me. I have only a basic battery monitor (TriMetric) and a Mate ÔÇ£1ÔÇØ, so I am not able to pull the charge cycle data as one could from a FlexNet DC and a Mate 3. Battery voltages were still equal to Absorb setpoint. No substantial loads. Absorb Time crite...

Re: Charged battery

I commonly see my chargers in Bulk in the morning, then they make it to absorb and then to float. BUT NOT ALWAYS. Sometimes they go back from Absorb to Bulk or Float to Bulk. By my observations, it is due to the amount of PV that can be generated and the load being consumed. It is my understanding ...

Re: FM80 going from ABSORB Mode back to BULK Mode

My reason for concern: The battery takes about 4 hours to get to Absorb Voltage, then with another 4 hours Absorbing, after total 8 hours, the cells are quite warm. Hot actually. Beyond a gentle gurgle. So to revert back to Bulk mode, I think IÔÇÖm just cooking my battery. My SGs are all similar - n...

FM80 going from ABSORB Mode back to BULK Mode

Hi All - I notice that my FM80s (two of them) go from Bulk Mode to Absorb Mode (which is normal), but then sometimes go from Absorb Mode back to Bulk Mode . Why would this be? I anticipate that the FM870s should go from Bulk to Absorb (for a few hours) then to Float (for the remainder of the day). M...

WIDE or LIMIT? RTS Compensation

Hello All - I have been wondering why my batteries have been Absorbing at such a low voltage (28.2V) and NOT at the Absorb setpoint (29.6V). In the Advanced menu, I see the RTS Compensation setting, either Wide or Limit. By default my Charge ControllerÔÇÖs were set to Limit, which (apparently) limit...

Re: Outback FP1 VFXR3524A and Dual Battery Banks

Yoe - I have a dual bank, or rather two independent banks. This is SOLELY because initially I bought too many cells: (4Vx6=24V@1065Ah)&(4Vx6=24V@1065Ah), paralleled for 24V@2130Ah system. This issue: I couldnÔÇÖt keep the entire 2130 Ah bank properly charged, rather was undercharging. Charge amperag...
