Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

The brown-out condition is interesting. I guess you could look up the grid meter model and see what the -8888 error meant. I agree the sensor failure was probably a false alarm side affect of whatever else happened, since it recovered immediately. I would try simulating a grid outage with the new se...

Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

Hi S/D, I understand you got in touch with support and it appears a couple of setting changes allowed the system to transfer without a delay when simulating a grid outage?

Excellent reminder! Some people cycle their main inverter with the others, too, like cycling tires on a car

Re: Backup failed to switch during outage

Attaching a screenshot of the events in question for reference. *edit* I should note it is unlikely the "sensor failure" has anything to do with the delay in the delay you experienced, so we should probably separate those two questions for now. 1) Do you know at what minute the outage occurred? 2) A...

Re: FM80 Current Limit set to 77 yet caught it at 79+

Raysun is correct about the FM60 and the FM80.

Fortunately, the FM100 does not have this issue! Even tested to failure, it will limit current to no more than 100.5 amps output, including margin of error.

When installed with 7,000 W of PV or less, under warranty, it never exceeds 100.1 amps.

Re: off grid solar tutorial

The way your system is configured, it will show the "off grid" message when the generator drops out. The off grid message is no reason to be concerned in itself, it just means the Radian lost its AC input and switched over to the batteries. We are considering how to change that message in systems li...

Yes, definitely change the Radian response time up to 5 seconds.

PG&E would require the Rule 21 profile. Other places have varying requirements on this and other settings. SolarEdge may have set it to the Rule 21 profile when they updated your firmware.

If it has the latest firmware, you can adjust the Frequency-Watt configuration to optimize for your particular use case and system. The adjustments are nested under a menu labelled "P(f)", which stands for power as an function of frequency.

Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

As long as ...

Re: AC coupled - batteries not charging from solar array during outage

Fair. What is your frequency response time set to? Since it's protected by the 4 digit installer password, I can't see it from OPTICS. This is the setting on the AC Coupling screen that allows 0.02 to 5 seconds. Changing the nominal "full" voltage targets, in simplistic terms, would just cause your ...

I've heard that if there a difference in electric potential between the user and the MATE device, it can affect the wheel. Try touching its metal bracket while using the wheel.

Re: New to me FLEXpowerTWO

Hey Mike, now that you have the MATE3S connected to the router, have you tried unplugging it from power and plugging it back in? Once it powers up with a live connection to the internet, and DHCP enabled (default), it should automatically connect to its old OPTICS site. You can check by pressing the...

Re: Mate 3 power up failure

Hi insequent, turns out I was misinformed on the MATE3 method, as I mostly deal with MATE3S these days. The correct method is to simply insert the SD card, and hold the "UP" button for about 4 seconds until the screen changes to "Wait Ethernet Process Init". Make sure not to unplug the unit while it...
