VFXR3648A - Charging with 120V 30A

Hi All, In hooking up an inverter generator (low THD for sensitive equipment), I have question about using a L5-30R converted to an L14-30 (120V bridged to 240v). With the obvious Amp maximum reduction and OpticsRE config etc, is there any reason not to do this if the max output from the generator m...

Re: From Battery vs To Load

Thank you, very thorough and quick response. It makes complete sense and is validating, the graph in OpticsRE is great - it just brings up more questions sometimes, maybe they could display an "Efficiency" metric of some sort. I used 4/0 wire to AGM batteries because of what you're saying, I'm certa...

From Battery vs To Load

Hey All, I'm seeing that "To Load" is generally less than "From Battery" (see attached image) in opticsre. Is this just because of system inefficiency? I am not seeing much in the help manuals, probably a simple explanation I'm missing.

Re: General AGM Battery SOC/Overnight Guidelines

Thanks Tim and Mike - for the good of the forum, I thought I'd extract this out of the Rolls AGM Battery charging section of the PDF Mike sent: VRLA CHARGING GUIDELINES To maintain good health, VRLA battries should be brought to a full charge on each cycle or, at minimum, once every 6-7 days. Charge...

Re: General AGM Battery SOC/Overnight Guidelines

Thanks Mike for the response. I will look through the manual. Are there more absolute measurement "set it and forget it" devices you (or anyone) is aware of I can use to continuously monitor in better ways that the FlexNet that I have built in? I really value the online monitoring component of Optic...

General AGM Battery SOC/Overnight Guidelines

Hi All, This is an amazing forum, thankful to have it. I'm looking for - and not finding - general guidelines for AGM SOC. As we head into the winter months, I'm wondering the frequency with which to run my generator. I thought this would be easier to find - happy to be slapped upside the head and s...

Re: At the studs, what would you do?

Thanks Mike, I will take a look at the Soladeck and post what I end up doing. Raysun, I am assuming I put a breaker box between batteries and the DC box on the inverter, in the wiring diagram for the FlexPower the breakers/fuses aren't mentioned. Do you have a specific box you use? Is it a midnite o...

Re: At the studs, what would you do?

Hi Raysun, Thanks for the response. I didn't know I'd need a disconnect for the batteries, is there an appliance/hardware piece you recommend? My plan was to have the batteries in a box I build for them specifically, possibly partially in ground with an active fan/vent. Megunticook was saying they h...

At the studs, what would you do?

Hi All, I have studs going up on new construction right now, my question is, what would you do to accommodate solar if you were me and had access to the inside of all your walls? Context: I'm building to be able to manage off grid so I've minimized electrical appliances. I have radiant heat in a sla...

Re: Placement/location of the FlexPower Board

Megunticook, Thank you for the reply, I'll likely look pretty similar to your photo with the exception of a flexware 2 product hung vertically instead of radian. Do you mind sharing the dimensions of that box you have the batteries in and what batteries you used? I'm looking at 16 6v 400ah, either g...

Re: Placement/location of the FlexPower Board

Thanks - I missed that - doesn't deter me though. I'm hoping that in a box, mounted on the home, it won't fluctuate as much. I'm a data/monitoring geek so I'll watch to see how efficiency varies.

Re: Placement/location of the FlexPower Board

Thanks Mike, Great advice on the fans, it's pretty amazing the things we have access to on this machinery. Yours working in a detached garage makes me feel like this will be ok in unconditioned space. Definitely going to enclose the batteries. I'll try to post my learnings as I go for forum consumpt...

Placement/location of the FlexPower Board

Hi all, Going off grid in the Pacific Northwest, not a forum veteran so please go easy on me. I am trying to keep my flexpower two inverter panel close to my batteries and array (7800w roof mounted). The ideal space is outside under a permanently covered patio (mount against side of house, roof of t...
