FM80s shutting down during equalize phase.

I'm trying to equalize my batteries using the sun. I set each Fm80 into equalize and they start to bring the voltage up. When it gets close to 64.4 one of the FM80s will reset and start over. It just keeps resetting. I can run an equalize off the generator but not the FM80s. I have to have a setting...

Hello, having the same problem. I isolated it to the outback side and not the house. Did you guys figure out a fix for this?

Re: Fx80 charge setting

Kurt, James from trojan tech support said that you can charge the batteries up to 150 amps. That is 20% of the battery bank capacity as long as the batteries do not get over 100 deg. 754ah. The two charge controllers can be set to 50 or max at 60 to get my batteries charged. My system maxes out at 5...

Re: Fx80 charge setting

I would bump Absorb up to 4 hours. I would also call Trojan and ask what the concern would be if the batteries occasionally had a ~150-160A bulk charge. You have two banks in parallel so the 49A output is a total of 98 amps. Usually, when you hit batteries with a high charge current the voltage qui...

Re: Fx80 charge setting

also if you think your not getting a full charge , maybe need to extend the absorb time . Check your settings for absorb voltage and float . What is the SG you get to at end of day? , do you regularly get to floating ? I have my absorb time at 2 hrs. Trojan says Max is 4 hrs. Is less better for the...

Re: Fx80 charge setting

petertearai wrote:yep add that 4 amps . Look at the northern Arizona solar forum , some say up to 20% ok .. Of course that is not what manufacture recommends . However if you have an RTS it looks like a little more than 13% may be ok
Thank you. That will help.

Re: Fx80 charge setting

...If so where do I put the C20 so that I do not over charge the batteries? You have the correct setting in your FM80 (ie 49amps) as specified by the Trojan to limit the maximum charge received when solar charging. Note, if you use a generator via your inverter to charge your batteries you will als...

Re: Fx80 charge setting

petertearai wrote:yes 13% is the max so theoretically 49 amps , but most systems will have an existing load , This of course will vary...... but you can add this to your 49 amps .
Ok so if my existing load is 4 amps, I can go with say 52 to be safe. That will help I think.

Fx80 charge setting

I think my settings are off. In my FX80 battery charge settings it has current limit. Is this limit the incoming limit from the panels which should be 80 or is this the limit that is charging your batteries? I set this to my c20 rate of 49 and my system will not bring in any more amps than 49 and ta...

Re: Charged battery

Usually after bulk it goes into absorb. After absorb it goes into float. This time it went from absorb to charged and the even though I had a good sunny day the batteries never went into float. It's just odd and maybe I have a setting off. Not sure. Thanks for the help.

Charged battery

As you can see in my screen shot my batteries fully charged and had charged on the screen. The controller never went into float.

Any thoughts? First time I have seen this.

Re: Mate3 battery voltage reading -- possibly undercharging?

I am having the same problem. My meeter has the batteries at 54v. The mate3 was 54.8v and now it's at 55v. Is there an adjustment/calibration you can do too fix this?

Re: Hot water

I talked to an electrician and he told me that I can convert my hot water heater from 220v to 110v. I had to move the hot red wire to neutral. What this did was cut the amps in half and cut the 4500w element to a 1125 element. It will take 3 times the time to heat it up. Experiment... I filled the t...

Hot water

I have my hot water heater hooked up to a relay that is controlled by one of my charge controllers. It's set to turn on and off with battery voltage (50v and 56v). First, should I change my 240v 4500w heating element for a 110v 1500w? It's just a huge draw on the system and I do not have my kitchen ...

Inverter gauge on the Mate3

Hello, Still learning here. Where in the Mate3 is the setting for the home screen inverter bar indicator? When the hot water heater turns on, the bar fills up and I think it should be reading less. My batteries only allow 49Amps max when charging the batteries. Maximum charge current 13% of my c20 (...
