Re: Inverter Firmware Revisions are Different

In case you have had a similar problem, Solarphil sent me the following message to my private email address: <<It seems thereÔÇÖs an issue where anything that causes the master to lose communications intermittently will cause the message to toggle between mismatch and match. This could be caused by ...

Re: Inverter Firmware Revisions are Different

Kurt: Thank you very much for your reply. I do not normally use a generator during the summer, but I did use it once, around the time when these messages appeared. I will keep an eye on the generator/AC loads. Thank you again.

Re: Inverter Firmware Revisions are Different

Phil: Answering your questions, our MATE-3 software version is 003.015.000. And, no, we have not experienced the same issue again. Thank you.

Re: Inverter Firmware Revisions are Different

Thank you, Phil. Both inverters have the same firmware version, 001.006.015. We are in the sticks, without Internet or phone signal; so we do not use Optics RE. I will be on the farm tomorrow and check which MATE firmware version we are running. Thanks again.

Re: Inverter Firmware Revisions are Different

Phil: Thank you for your reply. I am using MATE-3. I purchased the entire system at once from Wholesale Solar, so I assume the inverters have identical software. Should I check which versions I have? How can I do it? Thank you again.

Inverter Firmware Revisions are Different

Hi there: I have an Outback FP2 VFXR3648A inverter-based off-grid 120V 48W system with two FM80 and a battery bank, which I have been slowly installing on my tree farm during short visits once or twice a year. During the current visit, the system has been continuously on for a week for the first tim...

Re: FLEXpowerTWO system stops charging at 53%

Greg: Thank you so much for your reply! Answering your question, the generator is fed into the AC portion of the power center directly; no separate breaker. I will try to follow your instructions tomorrow. Is there a possibility that some charging characteristics are set incorrectly and terminate th...

FLEXpowerTWO system stops charging at 53%

I installed an off grid 120 V only AC/48 V DC solar system on the house we are building on our tree farm. The system consists of 24 panels (7.3 kW), the FP2 VFXR3648A FM80 dual inverter center, a battery bank (eight Fullriver AGM DC400-6 batteries, 415 Ah), and a Kohler 12RES propane generator. We l...

Re: How to start a new system if batteries are not charged

Steve: Thank you for the kind words. Nothing was wrong with my batteries. I am ashamed to admit, but I used an unfamiliar and pretty sophisticated multimeter to measure voltage, and I probably did something wrong... I know, I am the moron of the month. ](*,) Tree Farmer

Re: How to start a new system if batteries are not charged

Tim: Thank you very much for your help. I received the batteries in July, so I hope they are not dead... Oh well, I have contacted the seller's technical support as a first step. Thank you again!

Wiring schematic: FLEXpower Two off grid for 120 V

Hi there! I have finally received my order for a FLEXpower TWO system, which is supposed to be pre-wired internally for off-grid, 120 V only. However the schematic for external wiring that Outback/Wholesale Solar sent to me with this system is for the grid-tied application and for 120/240 V. The sam...

Tim: Thank you for your help; I really appreciate it. I understand your recommendation and the reasons, and this is the way I would like to go. Thank you! My second question remains unanswered, however. My Wholesale Solar sales person told me last Friday that Outback Power had stopped making a 120 V...

Re: Is 120/240V better than 120V when 240V is not needed

Sparksalot: Thank you for your thoughtful comments and help. I totally understand your notion about the future. However, I will never bring the grid to the house, and the only "big" load I have in a 1/2 HP 120 V well pump. (Perhaps I should buy a spare one in advance!) I guess my major threat is a p...

Question to Outback: Hi! I have purchased the 120 V version of the FP2 VFXR3648A, FM80 FLEXpower-Two power center from Whole sale Solar two days ago. However, they now tell me that the 120 V version is no longer available. Your website states that FP2 power centers are still available in the 120 V v...

Re: Is 120/240V better than 120V when 240V is not needed

Thank you, Kurt! I fully agree with your argument. However, before I retire in several years, and we move into this house, the house will be used only in summers. And during the summer months, my solar panels can produce approximately 200% of our energy needs. Hence, I will use the generator probabl...

Re: Is 120/240V better than 120V when 240V is not needed

Thank you, Sparksalot! The wire size in the house allows for either voltage, and will not be adjusted either way. So it means I will have a higher current (lose more energy in the wires) in the 120 V setup as compared to the 120/240 V setup. What would be your overall recommendation: to have a 120 V...

Is 120/240V better than 120V when 240V is not needed

I wonder if someone could help me. I am building an off grid house on a tree farm, and I have just purchased an off grid solar system from Wholesale Solar. The system is based on an FP2 power center consisting of two Outback VFXR3648A inverters and two FM80 chargers. When I ordered the system, I spe...
