Re: MATE3 firmware update 3.17.00

Release notes say "added support for SA- compliant inverters" Does this mean that this app note for 1.6.63 inverter firmware upgrade is no longer valid? The app note says: "A MATE3s system display using revision 001.001.000 or higher must be used for inverter firmware revision 001.006.063." and also...

Re: GFDI tripping disconnected PV Array ground

is your relay for the AGS two wire start still hooked up? i once ran into a grounding issue with a 48v system bank and a 12v generator starting battery. Its not the same problem as yours, but could have similar roots. Disconnect any wires currently connected to your inverter's AUX output and see if ...

Im looking for software (cheaper the better) that can easily produce conceptual schematics such as the attached examples. Can anyone send some recommendations?

mate3s showing two different AC input limits

there appears to be a glitch in the mate3s AAC input limits shortcut menu. under settings > Inverter I adjusted both grid and gen ac input limits to 12aac. I have double and triple checked that those values are there. Now, from the home screen, I click on the softkey under the G generator symbol (fa...

Re: Desulfators - anyone know a good one?

I have revived several old car batteries using desulfators (added about a year to their usable life). It generally took several months on a trickle charger with the desulfator attached. I am currently running one on an ~80Ah sealed FLA battery for my RV. Its been on there for 3 months with no notice...

Re: Adding a shunt

the FNDC is not smart enough for that. It expects all shunts to be in parallel, not series. Leave your loads on the inverter shunt and install a new shunt in parallel with the old one (for the charge controllers only). Or just run everything through the old shunt.... the data will be accurate, just ...

You can probably buy a new control board... we did that for some older inverters in Haiti. They were Rev 60.

Re: System Edge 830NC

your talking about the 80 amp output breaker on the FM80? I have had to replace those with 100A breakers on at least two occasions in hot tropical climates with oversized arrays. The 100A breakers were not GFDI breakers (not required in that area).

your talking about landscape or portrait orientation, right? it wont make a big difference in power production. It might make a difference if you ever try to make a warranty claim.

Re: What are some of the largest Outback offgrid systems?

The Bahamas install is interesting, thanks for those links.
I am just curious how installers are handling larger systems.
How big can Outback go? i.e. Has anyone installed 30 charge controllers with a 100kw array?

Re: Another voltage calibration question

sounds like you have a .5 v drop between the FM80 and the battery. At 80 amps, you'll get .2-.3 vd just through that 80 amp breaker. use your meter to test right at the BAT+ and - inside the FM80 case. Also, test at night and see if Battery voltages are closer. I wouldnt expect the FNDC voltage to b...

VFXR3048E thinks its a 3648A 120v

Anyone ran across this before?
User just installed this inverter overseas, (230v 50hz), but it thinks it is a 120v 60hz model running at 50hz. Optics says it is receiving 120v from town power, but it is really 240v.
everything is working, just the mate3 and optics think its a different inverter.
