Quality Engineer

About this job

We seek a Quality Engineer for our facility in Arlington, WA.  This position is responsible for driving product quality continuous improvements via statistical and technical information of quality, applications, environment, etc. and to significantly reduce field failure rate.

  • Gather data and analyze product quality data and work with applications, technical support, service, engineering and manufacturing to improve field product quality
  • Take ownership of the quality complaint management process for incoming cases from internal and external customers
  • Create and implement data collection and reporting processes throughout the organization
  • Interface with engineering, sales, technical support, service and warranty departments to investigate product quality issues
  • Investigate and analyze data on critical quality issues and prepare reports of findings to executive management
  • Determine quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to the product
  • Document root cause and countermeasures for identified product failure trends
  • Assign corrective actions and communicate customer product issues with manufacturing and/or suppliers
  • Manage all ISO activities including registration and yearly audits of ISO 9000 and 14000 and interface with ISO accreditation auditors
  • Lead internal quality improvement program
  • Manage customer quality issues and follow up with the internal corrective action
  • Support customer complaint cases ensuring effectiveness of specified improvement actions; track customer complaints and issues through resolution
  • Assist in the development and management of the quality assurance program
  • Monitor and assist as required on manufacturing progress on corrective actions
  • Monitor new product quality to address issues early in the product introduction and lifecycle
  • Coach engineering and technical support on root cause investigations and countermeasure implementation processes
  • Ensure quality data is available and accessible
  • Collaborate with personnel in drafting, implementing and maintaining quality control documents
  • Monitor vendors for adherence to quality requirements
  • Appoint and work with internal auditors in preparation for external audits

Requirements and Skills:

Education:   Bachelor Degree or equivalent military training in field of engineering or electronics

Experience:  6 – 8 years in field of power electronics, quality management, manufacturing

Supervisory:   1 – 2 years’ experience

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to analyze, plot and display quality data
  • Knowledge of SAP and ability to mine and extract data, run reports, searches, etc.
  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to develop, implement and achieve results through strong strategic planning and in-depth process analysis skills
  • Ability to write detailed reports and present findings to senior leadership
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and for extended periods
  • Ability to adapt to change and excel in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Ability to effectively use time and resources to efficiently accomplish project goals
  • Strong aptitude to work with others in a complex cross functional environment
  • Solid understanding of risk management and legal requirements
  • Ability to create, use and apply common problem solving tools such as FTA/Fishbone/DOE/8D etc.
