Engineering Technician 5

About this job

OutBack Power Technologies, a member of the Alpha Group, seeks an Engineering Technician 5 for its facility in Arlington, WA.  Under minimal supervision, this position will assist electrical and mechanical engineers in the design, build, test and documentation of new products.



Duties
  • Assemble circuits from schematics and test functionality
  • Develop test setup and fixtures to verify design and electrical circuits or mechanical assemblies
  • Execute test plans per engineering specifications
  • Document test setups and build notes and record results for analysis
  • Assist in the creation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
  • Assist in the automation of test plans
  • Maintain test area with coordination of supplies and tools
  • Hand solder wire terminations, connectors, through-hole and surface mount components

 

Requirements and Skills

Education:   2 Year Degree or equivalent military training in technical, electronics, engineering or related field

  

Experience:  6 – 8 years in field of analog and digital circuits, power circuits, power electronics

 

  • Ability to read schematics and component data sheets
  • Ability to solder both through-hole and surface mount components
  • Ability to do board level, system and complete product testing and verification
  • Work in highly motivated team environment
  • Collaborate and work effectively with team members

 

PC Application Skills

Intermediate level:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Keyboarding Skills

 

Desirable

  • Experience as an electrical technician with electrical products
  • Electrical and/or mechanical design, prototyping and testing experience with hardware products
  • Experience designing, testing, and documenting power conversion products
  • Experience writing simple software for testing products
  • Magnetics experience measuring and testing power inductors, transformers and other electrical components
  • High voltage experience to at least 600VDC/AC
  • Experience testing high voltage power electronics, semiconductors such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, gate drivers, power supplies
