About this job

We seek an Applications Engineer-2 to join our team in Arlington, WA. This position supports customers and the sales staff with system design, design review, installation, troubleshooting, application guidance and relevant technical information.



Duties
  • Correspond with customers and the sales organization through verbal and written communication in response to customer requests for product use information including: specifications, capabilities, compatibility, interface and general technology
  • Interface with Engineering, Customer Service, Tech Pubs and Sales and Marketing to facilitate the flow of appropriate technical information and to arrange the information in a useable format
  • Develop and provide quotations to alternative energy customers and sales reps
  • Evaluate product proposals, customer and sales requests for new special products and coordinate with product management for resolution
  • Participate in and prepare technical/application oriented presentations and customer training
  • Troubleshoot customers' technical problems, complaints, questions to a resolution, including interaction with customer service, sustaining engineering and product management and sales, but maintains the primary responsibility for resolution
  • Assist the engineering design team in creating customer specific solutions
  • Lead the installation effort at customers’ sites
  • Assist sales and marketing staff in the feasibility assessment and development of customer application dealing all aspects of solar electricity including (but not limited to) off-grid industrial and grid tied PV

 Additional Responsibilities may include:

  • Participate in sales/representative training for alternative energy products

Requirements and Skills:

Education: 2 year degree or equivalent military training in the field of AA/AAS Degree in electronics/Technician Certificate from an accredited technical source

Experience: 4 – 6 years in field of customer interaction, electrical design or support experience and a working knowledge of either solar power systems or grid tied and off-grid/distributed generation systems design

  • Ability to meet expected 100% attendance requirement
  • Will work on-site (no tele-commuting)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions in the English language
  • Ability to speak/read/write English
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Work well under pressure
  • Current driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Sufficient credit line for business expenses
  • Available weekends and after hours when on call
  • Technical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to set own priorities
  • Flexibility to respond to a varying workload
  • Professional and ethical in dealing with customers and vendors
  • Ability to obtain a passport and travel independently

PC Application Skills:

Intermediate level: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Keyboarding

Desirable: BSEE Degree

Travel Requirements: 25 - 50%
